Top 10 Books I’ve Recently Added to My TBR List

toptentuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Today’s topic is one I could probably post a list for every single Tuesday: 10 new books I’ve recently added to my TBR list? You mean since yesterday, right?

thie bridge will not be gray

Dave Eggers has a nonfiction picture book AND it’s about why the Golden Gate bridge is orange? A thousand yes pleases.

when breath becomes air

I’ve read a couple of brief excerpts from the book surgeon Paul Kalanithi wrote after he was diagnosed at a very young age with terminal cancer, and the writing is gorgeous. I’ve also felt very moved and inspired by several interviews I’ve read with his wife, who finished the book for him and wrote the afterword.

wonderful fluffy little squishy

Beatrice Alemagna’s art is crazy gorgeous and I can’t help falling in love with any book title that has the words fluffy, little, AND squishy in it.

koko be good

I was admiring Jen Wang’s art for Cory Doctorow’s graphic novel, In Real Life, yesterday and thought to Google her. Turns out she has another graphic novel she wrote and illustrated!

all joy and no fun

I’m pretty sure I won’t be the right audience for this book on what I guess will be parenting neurotypical kids (if you think parenting a neurotypical child is challenging, throw in a few special needs!) but the description had me intrigued.

trouper

I cannot begin to resist any E.B. Lewis-illustrated title anyway, and this one is about a homeless dog who finds his person? I’m already tearing up.

american primitive

I recently read Mary Oliver’s new poetry collection, Felicity, and feel inspired to seek out her older collections, starting with the book that won the Pulitzer.

french milk

French Milk was the very first book I ever read by Lucy Knisley, many years ago, and a recent rereading of Relish has me on a quest to reread all of her books.

pursuit of happiness

I just read and loved Maira Kalman’s The Principles of Uncertainty with all my heart, and I am pretty sure that 2016 is going to be the year of Maira Kalman for me.

in the footsteps of crazy horse

I am always looking for books by and about Native Americans to include in my courses, and this is one I need to read and start book talking right away.
